By using fields of color and pattern accompanied with figure painting, Dani is interested in showing maximal emotions- specifically trauma and human tragedy. The manipulation and coalescence of color and pattern calls to Iribe’s fascination with human emotion. In order to process daunting emotions, trauma and tragedies, Dani paints to attempt to understand the “whys” and nuances of emotion by integrating history, culture, and the familial. Drawing from the idea of romanticism and the sublime Iribe orchestrates overwhelming and threating feelings that while intimidating is simultaneously liberating. In the same way emotion can feel all-consuming, Dani wishes to explore everything between joy and tragedy.
